What ScanDoc is

ScanDoc is a free, browser-based toolkit for OCR (text extraction from images), image-to-PDF conversion, text-to-PDF generation, PDF-to-image conversion, PDF-to-text extraction, and translation of extracted text. Processing runs locally in your browser wherever technically possible; translation is the exception, handled by a third-party API as described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use ScanDoc to:

• Process content you don't have the legal right to process (e.g. copyrighted material you're not authorized to reproduce, or documents belonging to someone else without permission).
• Extract, forge, or reproduce identity documents, signatures, or credentials for fraudulent purposes.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or overload the site or the third-party services it relies on (including the free translation API).
• Use the tool for any unlawful purpose under the laws applicable to you.

Accuracy of results

OCR, translation, and document conversion are automated and can make mistakes — misread characters, garbled formatting, imperfect translations, or missed text on low-quality images. ScanDoc is provided as a convenience tool and should not be relied on as the sole source of accuracy for legal, medical, financial, or other high-stakes documents. Always verify important results independently.

No warranty

ScanDoc is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Some features depend on third-party libraries and free APIs (such as the translation service) that are outside our control and may be slow, rate-limited, or temporarily unavailable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScanDoc and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including loss of data, missed deadlines, or decisions made based on OCR/translation output.

Advertising

ScanDoc is free to use and supported by advertising (currently served via Adsterra). Ads may appear on the site, including before certain actions such as text extraction. Ad content is served by third parties and is not endorsed by ScanDoc.

Changes to the service or these terms

We may update ScanDoc's features or these terms at any time. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
